So....Maddi had her first sports injury in her basketball tournament this past Saturday. She went down and we saw her face scrunch all up in pain and looked about ready for the tears to flow. BUT, she got up and toughed it out, knowing her coach DOES NOT allow crying unless you are DYING! She went through the rest of the game with somewhat of a limp, trying not to let the pain show too much. GET THIS: Papa and Nana had just taken her to Academy one hour before to get her those fancy, ankle braces she's been wanting for volleyball(the ones that only grandparents will buy b/c they're so durn expensive). So my dad ran out to the car and brought them in and she wore them after that. Bummer, huh?!?! Well, later that day when we got home, she took off her shoe and it was swollen. After icing it and elevating it and playing back row only at her club volleyball tournament Sunday, her coach at school on Monday said she needed to go to the high school for a few treatment sessions with the trainer. Which, by the way, was a pretty cool place...beds, hot tubs, exercise equipment, people with towels ready to assist you in any way....whew! Maddi loved the attention...
Here's how little bits of our conversation went as Maddi was getting a treatment done on her ankle in the hot tub...
Me: Awww man, Madison, I wish I would've brought the camera. I could've taken your picture here since it's the first and hopefully last time to be here! Maybe I'll bring it tomorrow.
Maddi: (Full neck/head swing my way with eyes that weren't joking)Mom, NO WAY! You are NOT bringing your camera in here to take a picture of me. That would be WAY TOO embarrasing.
Then, on the way out-
Me: That was really neat and so great that you're getting all this free treatment.
Maddi: Yeah, hey did you see those high school boys in there?
Me: MADISON CLAIRE!!!!!!
Ha! Oh how they grow up and start getting embarrassed by stuff they never would have cared about in the past. Made me laugh out loud and then think about how much she's growing up. Time has flown with her these last 5 years of being her "mom". Wow...I can see how before you know it, they're grown and gone. A lesson to us all...cherish the time you have now and take LOTS of mental snapshots in your head...sometimes you just aren't allowed to take real ones!

Aw, that stinks that she got injured but it looks like she turned out okay! A little attention helps! You'll have to keep me posted how you handle her and boys, so I know what to do with Kade one day. Mason and Kade were telling me about this girl Mason likes, and I just didnt know what to do! oh my goodness. Kade received a love note the other day, but he just threw it in the trash and didn't care! haha. I'm not ready for this, but I dont think any parent ever is!
ps. I WILL take you up on your painting offer when we're ready!
