If one more person says this to me:
"Well, AT LEAST you won't have
to worry about losing your figure since you're adopting..."
GOOD. LAWD. PEOPLE. Really? REALLY REALLY???
It's kind of a known fact that if you work hard, and sometimes, some girls don't really even have to work that hard( I have a few of these lucky girls as friends), quite honestly...you CAN get your figure back after a pregnancy. AM I WRONG???
BUT GUESS WHAT??? A baby just can't be "exercised" into existence.
Well intentioned, even sweet people, have spoken these EXACT words to me. While I don't blow up at them or cry or even try to correct them...I usually just kinda try to laugh it off. That would be a fake 'laugh it off' on my part, in attempt to not make them feel bad.
BUT IN MY MIND...I'm thinking:
-Did they really just say that?
-Do they REALLY think I would trade my figure for a baby?
-REALLY (insert long screeeeaaaaaammmmm here)????
And then, I remember, if you haven't been there, you don't know. Ignorance. Not mean-ness.
We all need to open our eyes more. Be aware. Be sensitive.
And I'm not just talking about those of us who long for a child of our own. Gosh, there are so many others going thru hard things, too.
for misty: Think before you speak.
There....if you can use that too, good.

Amen!! That applies to so many situations. Not to mention..I can only imagne what you would "trade" body wise, mind wise, heart wise to have a baby. I understand people make silly statements sometimes to compensate for having nothing to say in an awkward situation..but I'm with you..REALLY? I meet people all the time that say things about Asperger & it's mostly ignorance but it hurts my heart. Think before you speak is a lesson SO many people need to be reminded of. Well..*off soapbox* your post struck a nerve..I've been there too. I'll pray for some extra "armor" for us. lol
I am trying to...think before I speak. Diarrhea of the mouth is a terrible problem for me. Please forgive me as needed and thanks for the reminder. love you!

This makes me sad. I often complain about my figure and forget that I have four beautiful baby girls that should have me shouting with joy over this body! You're awesome!
