For months, this guy has been training like a mad dog. (What I like best is that he's done it without taking time away from our family, because he does it as soon as he gets off shift work.) I've never seen anything like it in the 8 years we've been together. The only thing I can liken it to, is the way he has tackled home projects for the last few years! And he does THAT with a vengeance, not to mention he's good at it!!! Finishing so many of those projects really has given him the flexibility TO train. But if you ask him WHY?...He claims that the realization of getting, being, and staying healthy hit him really hard this past year, in light of our upcoming adoption! Yay for healthy...and of course, yay for adoption!
2011 Clear Lake Triathlon
in the transition area setting up....
walking "the plank" to swim 500 yards(of which he got 1st in his division-WOW!)...
coming out of the transition area from swim to bike with Dad cheering him on...
coming in from the 16 mile bike ride...
(usually 12.4 for this sprint tri distance, but lengthened b/c of the run change that had to take place)
transition again, getting ready to run...
running in from a 2.1 mile run...
(shortened from the usual 3.1 sprint tri distance because of some last minute condo owner complainers)
crossing the finish...
family and friends...
What a neat day! Proud of you on your 1st TRIATHLON, babe.
All your hard work PAID OFF!!!
You're on your way to that IRONMAN tattoo, I can feel it.
Next up, the Olympic distance!!!
For those wondering about Triathlon distances, they go in this order(from shortest to longest):
*Super Sprint Distance Tri- (I did this one and it was tough enough!!!)
*Sprint Distance Tri- (Chuck did this one today 1 hour 31 minutes)
*Olympic Distance Tri- (he's got his eyes on this one next after more training)
*Half IronMan Distance Tri- (and this one in the future)
*Iron Man Distance Tri- (ummmmmmmmm.....yeah, crazy people do this one...SUPER FIT, train-their-life-away people! GOOOOOO them! They amaze me!)
