Awards Day!

Today was Maddi and Mason's Awards Day at school! It's such a fun day for the parents as they watch their kids bask in the glory of a year's worth of hard work. I was REALLY proud! Chuck had to work, but he was just a text away at all times!!!
Mason got an award for 50+ AR points, another for reading the recommended amount of Bluebonnet books, one for Perfect and Prompt Attendance for the entire year, and two TAKS COMMENDED awards! He was up and down and up and down...YAAAAYYYY! Here's Kade getting one of his awards! He got several also! You go, Kadesters!

Then off to the jr. high for Maddi's awards. It was a packed house! She received an award for Perfect Attendance for the entire year, a TAKS COMMENDED award for Math, and was awarded the Fabulous Five award for making 5 athletic teams in a very competitive girls program. But the biggest award was a total surprise to her...

MVP girl athlete!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The picture below is one of her coaches giving her the award, while the other one was at the microphone telling the reasons why she was their pick! It was SO exciting! And the things her coach said about her to the giant crowd of people was probably the most special of all..."natural leader, quietly leads, stepping up to the plate when needed most, great attitude, positive at all times, encourager to her other teammates, dedicated, and gifted athletically". How neat is that!?!?!? Ask her dad how much he teared up at work telling his buddies when I texted him during the program???!!!

If you can't tell how proud I am by reading all this...doesn't this picture just tell it all!?!?!?

Awww...that is awesome. Maddie and Mason have changed so much since I first met them. They are sweet, happy, and outgoing kids. I'm so glad Mara and Cayman have them as cousins. I was reading a paper last night that Mara wrote in Kindergarten about her sweet cousin Maddie, she really loves her.
