Yeah, so we've been busy lately and I haven't had the time or want-to to blog!
So, I'm playing catch-up and here's what's been going on in the House of Willy...
Maddi's basketball team ended the season in 2nd place! Go Maddi!
OUR NEW DOG-WELL, KINDA...
Almost 3 weeks ago, I lured the pitiful dog from down the street to our house with treats, to see if I could help him. He was in the middle of the street. The owner's fence is down and the poor dog is always out wandering...he's super slow b/c both of his back legs appear to have been broken at one time and just mended back horribly crooked. He was covered in nasty black stuff all on his skin, his hair was terribly matted, NO hair on his tail-just hanging matted clumps, and he was starving-both for food and attention. Chuck and I left a note on the owner's door saying we had his dog. He came by our house ONE WEEK later and saw how good he was doing and said I could keep him longer if I wanted. Of course, I agreed. I need to take some AFTER pictures of him so you can see how he's progressing. He's 11 years old, lives in the ower's garage with a doggy door and has been picked up by the pound several times. Why haven't they ever tried to take him away from this man, I'll never understand!?!? The owner didn't mind sharing all the info with me when I questioned him about why his dog was in SUCH BAD SHAPE???? Really weird, huh?

So, for now, we still have him. The owner said his name is Scooby, but I've been calling him Sugar Bear from day one...He's ours until the neighbor decides he wants him back. Probably never. We'll see. This is how he looked the first day. So far he's had 2 baths, a trashbag of matted hair cut out, and lots of love and attention. Updates to come...

Mason's city league basketball team ended their season in 2nd place! Yaaaaayyy Mason!

And just today, Maddi had her first track meet. It was such an exciting day for us! It took me back to my junior high track days...such fun. I'm so proud of her and so excited at how much she's loving sports. There was a time, when Chuck and I were dating that I thought we'd never be watching her play school sports, she was so insecure about it at first...all it took was encouragement from her entire family. Thanks everyone! She's already learned some great life lessons from her short athletic career! Love it, love it, love it!
She is in 3 events...HIGH JUMP, 800 RUN, and 400 YD DASH.
Guess what???? SHE PLACED 2ND IN THE HIGH JUMP! Her coach had already called us to let us know how awesome she is in it! We got to see it for the first time today...it was SO neat!

Proud Papa and Dad...
And I was a timer for the meet, so I got to be right down there with her(that's me in her DPJH sweatshirt and that's Maddi on the start). It's kinda hard to concentrate on timing when your daughter is running! AHHHHHH!
I was in charge of 2nd placers and guess what Maddi was in her heat of the 400???? Yep...I think we have a record number of 2nd places on this blog post...really weird, huh!?!?!?
Love you fam and friends.

Oh, and I forgot to mention...Mom, Lana and I are doing BAY AREA ADVENTURE BOOT CAMP early morning sessions and have had a blast doing it together. Lana did it last month also and got Mom and I to agree to the torturous fun with her this month. It's tough, but so rewarding! And so very special to be doing it together.
Another special thing happening in our life came 2 weeks ago from a 40 day challenge in our Bible Study class: PRAY TOGETHER FOR 40 DAYS AS A COUPLE. We've always prayed and done devotionals with the kids each night. But now, Chuck and I have begun praying intimately together every night. It's really neat. I don't say this to brag or make us sound super spiritual-cause we're way far from where we want to be...I'm just opening the challenge up to you! Maybe you already do this or maybe you do it sporadically...
JUST COMMIT TO DOING IT DAILY. It's been so worth it.
Thank you God for my family!!!
PS...Blogs can always make it look like everything's perfect in our world. Noone's life is perfect, but God is in control. He's teaching me that some things are best left in
HIS STRONG, MIGHTY HANDS. We can't do a durn thing without HIM.
HE is so good. I pray that you know the same.
Love you fam and friends.

Good stuff!! I agree that things can seem so perfect on a blog - I always try to add in the imperfectness - but it usually just ends up making it sound like I am all that much more humble and perfect - so FAR FROM THE TRUTH! Anyway - I enjoy reading your blog so much - it always makes me smile and feel so normal!! I love the praying idea with Chris - I will let you know how it goes :) Love you guys!
Great post Misty Dawn! Exciting news about Maddi and Mason.....a new life for Scooby (bless his heart!), and strengthening your body as well as your relationships with Chuck and God.......can't ask for much better than all that! Love you!
